RE: Sorry-another genny - AC question

Why no microwave on 30 amp service?
I do run the microwave just not with the A/C on.As that is the highest amp draw next to the A/C.I just do not push things to the max.

RE: Any old Rock n Rollers out there?

In Silver Springs Fl. we buy a seasons pass for less than $60 and get a concert every Saturday. We have seen The Beach Boys, Hermans Hermits, Wayne Newton, George Jones, Willie Nelson, Anne Murray, America, and many many more. Pretty good deal for $60 bucks
Same here and stay at Silver River State Park.We only live about and hour and a half form there but makes a nice weekend with out the drive home after a day and night of fun.:)

RE: Electrical issue

If it is tripping the breaker and the battery s will not charge with the two breakers off sounds like that would be a good place to start. Are your breakers not labeled?Do you have any 12 vote power with the two breakers off that are tripping.with trailer plugged in with the breakers off that are tripping.

RE: camping

Just the wife and I but it is the most relaxing way to spend time together. No phones no TV now and then depending on where we camp mostly in state and federal parks. We are retired so camp at lest one time a month some where. Most are with in three hours of home and longer ones to camp close to relatives. Not that we don`t love them just rather have our own box to sleep in.With our kids close to gather in two states we don`t get why don`t you stay with us instead of them.We just go to a park in the middle of them and they can come see us.Then we move on to the next bunch kids and other relatives stopping in between to play a few days.
Also you meet the nicest people in camp grounds it is just not like a motel or what ever.Plus being old we camp for half price in federal parks and in our home state of Florida. so from 7.00 to 12.50 a night it is hard to beat.Even other states at 12.00 to 28.00 dollars it is still a good deal.We did just drop around 15,000 in a trailer but some people pay that for a #### timeshare and have fees of 500.00 to 900.00 dollars a year for one week vacation.Just the yearly maintenance fees for that week of vacation will buy us 60 to 90 days of fun camping. If you like resorts it will still buy over 30 days a year at camp grounds with cable pools golf you name it plus WIFI.And you know who used the bed last night.
PS I forgot about the cooking part.My wife is the cook and depends on what time of year it is.When it is cold a big pot of beans or chilly is good.We cook out side most of the time on a portable camp stove.
Hamburgers, hot dogs ,Eggs in the morning.Every thing seems to taste better camping.

RE: Is RV travel down a lot?

It is down in Florida and what is here are mostly local people.Week ends are still pretty much full. But Sunday thought Tuesday you can pick you spot.We camped at a high demand camp grounds in good times was not 15% full other than the week end.The only place I have seen full here was in the Keys at the state parks. And a few spots open there.

I like it also but the Airstream part will out last the Ford part.I have a E350 that I pull with but rather have a TV I can up date as needed. But then I don`t have a Airstream either.

Am new to all of this & was wondering if anyone travels to see concerts around the country? Aloha, Lindaloo
Don`t go to that many concerts but play with a rock N roll band.More or less around New Smyrna Beach and Daytona Beach Fl.I also fill in now and then with other groups playing Bass mostly.
Also sit out in the woods and play when camping if any one around to play with.

RE: Reluctant New Fulltimers

We mite could be of more help if we know what kind of trailer you have.So someone with one like it would know more.
Sorry to hear of you and others that were displaced. But I feel for you as in 2004 Charley took our kitchen and dining room with a big tree plus other damage.Hang in there it will get better. It took us about 11 mounts to get back to normal.

RE: HAS THOUSAND TRAILS SPOILED ME?

I guess we are in the riff raff bunch.as any thing over 12.50 a night is high with my gray hair card.Stayed in some real nice federal and state parks for less that ten dollars a night. But then I don`t know if having to be old is a good trade off or not.
Unfortunately the people who pay $50 or more a night in CA, want to be in the areas where the kids can go to Magic Mountain, Universal Studios, Knot's Berry Farm, Disneyland, San Diego Wild Animal Park, etc. Maybe when they grow up, they will go to National Parks.
One campground near Disneyland, is walking distance from the park, another about a block further. One in San Francisco, has a view of the Ocean and the Golden Gate. Campgrounds near the biggest entertainment attractions can get away with charging outrageous
prices for many times sub standard sites. There are many places where you can stay for less in CA, especially for those who belong to RPI or C2C and Passport America. They are about a 30 minute or more drive from these attractions.
Personally, Id rather use my Senior Pass to National Parks which to me are real entertainment facilities, instead of man made ones. Yosemite, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, etc. With a 50% discount for RV sites. But, many with larger than my 23 ft RV, can't get into some of them.
I will agree with you.If going to mouse land for a family of four and spend over 300 dollars what is another 50 or 90 dollars. As you say just not to often.
All but one fed park we have stayed at would take a 30 foot or longer RV.I do know some are 25 feet or less so we have a 25 with rear slid that makes a queen bed with out taking up inside space. But not sure would be big enough with kids all the time.

RE: Advice for 1st camping trip with new TT?

Best I can say for a new camper. Is make sure you are unplugged, water hose stored.TV antenna down.Stabilizer jacks up before you move.Test brakes and hook up.and canopy is secure
About any thing else you will learn with out it costing you any money. Also most campers are very willing to help a new camper. So if not sure of something ask.
good luck and happy camping

RE: Gripy :-) request for Expedition 3.31 vs. 3.73 experiences.

I use a Ford van E350 with a 3.73 and 5.4.I am very happy with it.My trailer is a good bit lighter than yours.I did have a van with the 3.31 and 302 that was very weak. Not sure over all I would not have got better mileage with a 3.73 not towing. As you say for a small percent of miles towing I like a 373 with most engines these days for all round service.Mite go 4.10 if towing all the time.I also had a van with 4.10.About the same gas mileage towing or not.And with no over drive was turning around 42 to 4400 RPM at interstate speed.I will say it did pull good but not good for every day driving. The E 350 I have now I just drop out of over drive when pulling under fifty on less than flat roads.I would say with either of the Ford V8`s now the 3.73 and just use straight drive when pulling if it won`t stay in over drive. You did`t say what engine you had but unless you are going to the V-10 I would not go any higher than a 3.73 if then.

RE: Bigfoot or Eagle Cap

It does happen. We found one a 2008 R-Vision TC 23 SB that was used twice and traded in for a bigger one as he was near 7 feet tall and the slid bed was not long enough for him.New 24970.00 and we bought it 14100.00 with only tax no dealer fee or extra dollars.Dealer gave me the guys number that own it as he had sold it the first time and was local. The thing was had to be cash.He said he had sold it twice and they could not get it financed and was going to sale it at a dealers sale as he had 09`s coming. If I would buy it he would take it off his sale list at the price he was going to ask at the dealers sale.He made a few dollars there as he did not have to pay auction fee.
So deals are out there you just have to jump on it when one comes a long.I was looking at a 06 on E bay that was a 19 foot version of the same trailer that went for more money. This one is a 25.6 with rear slide queen bed.so close to a thirty with the bed out.big to us as we had a 23 Award and the bunks took up seven feet of it.
